Cotton
Care recommendations
As a rule, cotton fabrics are very long-lasting. Since the material is not particularly elastic, it tends to crease relatively easily. Cotton prints should always be turned inside out before machine-washing, to avoid damaging them.

Washing
White cotton items should always be washed with a normal detergent, whilst a mild detergent or a detergent not containing an optical brightener should be used for coloured items. New coloured items should be washed separately the first few times. Fabric softener reduces the absorbency of cotton, so you should use as little of it as possible. Wash whites at up to 95° C, coloureds at up to 60° C, delicate coloureds at up to 40° C.
Drying
Cotton should not be left wet for too long. Cotton coloureds should not be piled up. Cotton garments should be pulled into shape after washing, both lengthways and across. Cotton is best spin-dried, then hung out on the line. Easy-care cotton should be hung out as wet as possible.
Caution:
There is always a danger that cotton will shrink in the dryer. Do not hang white cotton out to dry in the sun, as the brightener in the detergent may produce a yellowish tinge.
Ironing
Set the iron on Cotton / Linen. If you iron on the 3-point temperature setting, make sure the cotton is damp (unless you are using a steam iron).
Fabric blends should be ironed at a lower temperature setting. If it is too high, artificial fibres such as polyamide and elastane may melt – making the fabric brittle or reducing its elasticity.
