Synthetic fibres
Care recommendations
Synthetic yarns – microfibres in particular – are among the easiest materials to look after. With a few exceptions they are machine-washable. They keep both their shape and their colour, even after frequent washing.
See our Stains guide for information on removing stains from synthetic fabrics.
Washing
You can machine-wash most artificial fibres at 40° C. Modal is safe up to 60° C, but acetate should go no higher than 30° C (hand-hot). We recommend dry cleaning for gossamer-fine viscose georgette. Washable viscose-crêpe items must be pulled into shape while damp, as crêpe yarns contract when wet.
Drying
Do not leave wet items piled up for too long. Not all synthetic fabrics can be tumble-dried.
Ironing
Microfibre fabrics are best dry-ironed, with care, on the 1-point temperature setting.
